0:05 – Umbrella rig from the video game project Umbraller. The clip shows a quick animation of the umbrella opening and closing. Then shows the rig’s control over individual movements in order to achieve the animation.

 

0:14 – Bipedal Alien Rig (aka. Ace) from the video game Project Umbraller.  Equipped with both IK and FK controls the clip shows the basic IK movement of the character, drawing attention to the advanced foot adjustments (Ball Roll/Heal Roll/Grind/Tippy Toe/Inner & Outer Rolls).

0:23 – Bipedal Alien Rig. Scapula Control/ Motion Constraint/ Deformation. In the Pipedal Alien Rig, the scapula bone is constrained to the shoulder’s movement to create smoother more realistic deformation.

0:26 – Bipedal Alien Rig Weight painting. This clip shows of the weight painting of the character, and more importantly the clothing. The movement of the stomach control shows of the stretch of the belt and pants.  The arching of the back shows how the suspenders, stretch, squash, and conform to the character’s body.

0:43 – Bipedal Alien Rig IK spline handle. The character has what we call a head tail, that I rigged with an IK spline handle. This allows for easy posing during the animation process.

0:48  – Bipedal Alien Rig Eye animation. The limited face and eye controls allow for simple but expressive animations.  

0:50  – Bipedal Alien Rig Game Animation Sample (Shotgun Recoil Animation).

 

0:55 – Bipedal Robot Rig from the video game Project Umbraller. This robot required a unique bipedal rig because it contained a second knee joint, as well as a double bend along the elbow. It is equipped with both IK and FK controls. This clip shows the basic IK movement of the character, drawing attention to the advance foot and Knee adjustments.

1:04 – Bipedal Robot Rig. This clip quickly shows the double bend in the elbow (FK controls) and then shows the isolated rotation of the shoulder. Since this is a robot, the x, y, & z rotation of the shoulder and clavicle had to be separated into different  objects then controlled by one offset joint.

1:10 – Bipedal Robot Rig. This clip shows the isolated rotations working under the IK controller as well as the IK movement of the whole arm.

1:16 – Bipedal Robot Rig . Walk Cycle Animation.

1:19 – Bipedal Robot Rig Game Animation Sample (Shotgun Recoil Animation).

1:22 – Spider Robot leg Rig. It is equipped with both IK and FK controls. This clip shows of the IK movement of the leg, with advanced adjustments for rolls and knee location. The IK handle also has control over the compression of the spring (also shown with FK controller). Separate from the variables within IK handle, there is a polar control handle. This adjust the location of the elbow/knee in the same way the Twist variable on an IK arm would.

1:38 – Spider Robot Body Rig. This clip shows the motion test of the rigs control of the body. The gyro like rotation of the inner body, the extension & retraction of the camera lens, the shutter(eye lids) opening and closing all while the iris follows its target.  

 

1:48 – Full Spider Robot Body Rig. Motion test animation, showing of the IK movement of its 8 legs, its gyro body, and mechanical camera like eye.
